We spend a lot of time on this Blog talking about the world-renowned cuisine of Santa Fe, and have made many mentions of the delicious green chiles that are so central to our region’s staple dishes. But there’s good reason for it. The food in Santa Fe is so good that it’s worth talking about repeatedly, and the green chiles really are something of a culinary icon here; something that is showcased time and again throughout the year. This fall, the green chile once again takes center stage in the 24th annual Santa Fe Wine and Chile Fiesta. This is a great time to plan your travel to Santa Fe, and it’s not yet too late to book your room or tickets for this spectacular event.
Santa Fe Wine and Chile Fiesta
The Santa Fe Wine and Chile Fiesta is an annual five-day celebration that features not only the culinary artistry found in Santa Fe’s restaurants, but also showcases the sophistication of wines from national wineries. In total, there will be 90 national wineries partnering with 75 of Santa Fe’s top restaurants hosting exciting events, including cooking demos, wine seminars, and winery luncheons and dinners. There are still tickets available for some wonderful events, including a demonstration and tasting with executive Chef of Terra Restaurant, a wine seminar with three of the country’s top Master Sommeliers, and more. There are also still tickets available for the spectacular Live Auction Luncheon, which features a 5-star lunch catered by local favorite chefs Martin Rios of Restaurant Martin, James Campbell Caruso of La Boca, and Tony Smith of Eldorado.
The Santa Fe Wine and Chile Fiesta also works with local restaurants to host wine dinners at different locations throughout the city on each night of the event, which will feature a special wine pairing menu. The final, and most impressive event of the weekend, is the Grand Tasting. The Grand Tasting, held at the Santa Fe Opera, is a food-lovers paradise, where all 75 participating Santa Fe restaurants and all 90 wineries serve samples of their best food and wine. This event is so popular that is sells out every year, but there are still a small selection of tickets available for those last minute travelers. All together, this event is a great place for food and wine lovers to come together and celebrate everything we love about Santa Fe’s culinary scene. It’s a wonderful time of year to visit Santa Fe, so don’t miss your chance, and book your getaway today.
